Just an Update...

Today was the sickest I have been either time I've been pregnant. Jay was sweet enough to fix me breakfast in bed as I watched the Royal Wedding, :) but unfortunately, it didn't stay down very long. I got sick again at work a few hours later. :( I have been queasy all day, and I really hate being sick, but it is all worth it if it means there is a healthy baby in there! I am so anxious about our appointment Monday. I have a really good feeling (and it's not the nausea!) Fingers crossed, and keep the prayers coming!

Today's Appointment

So I went BACK to the doctor today for more blood work and an actual appointment with my doctor. I had to wait a while for my doctor because she got stuck in traffic near Atlanta. Anyway, I went ahead and got my blood work done. I piddled around Thomasville for a few hours while waiting for the results. I got back, walked back to the back, and asked for the results.........drumroll please......my HCG was 18856 and my progesterone was back up to 30.6! WOO HOO!! So exciting! That is the most excited I have ever felt after leaving that place, honestly. When I met with Dr. Reed, she said that everything seemed great. She thinks that I ovulated a week later than my cycle would indicate, so that explains the ultrasound measuring five weeks. We go back on Monday, May 2 for an ultrasound, so until then...

Yesterday's Appointment

So...yesterday's appointment didn't go exactly as I was dreaming in my mind for the past two weeks. We went in for an ultrasound, and I was hoping to see the heartbeat and the baby measuring at exactly 6 weeks 1 day (which is where I thought I was.) That didn't happen. She said it is measuring about 5 weeks. I had a flash of deja vu, and immediately began crying. She explained that it was nothing to worry about - that there was a yolk sac and everything looked good. She said I might just be a week earlier than I thought I was. This is possible because when I did take a HPT the day after I thought I missed, it was very, very, VERY faint. This leads me to believe her theory that I am just a week off on my dates. She sent me to the lab to check my HCG, you know - the number that doubles every few days. On Monday 4/11, my HCG was 740. So I did the math, and I told myself that if she told me the number was about 5500 or higher, I would be relieved. So Kim called at about 5:30 that evening to say that my HCG was 9950! Almost 10,000! That's GREAT news!! I am not going to get all pessimistic just yet. I am going to go with the U/S tech's theory for now, at least until I go for another ultrasound. We are staying positive together. My next appointment is Thursday. I assume she will do another quant test. 18,000 or 19,000 is the number we want to see on Thursday! Keep your fingers crossed, and more importantly KEEP PRAYING!

WE ARE PREGNANT!!

I was beyond ecstatic when I got a positive HPT on Monday, April 4th! I called my doctor's office to make an appointment, and they wanted to see me right away. I got an appointment for the next day. I went in for blood work to check my HCG and progesterone. For those who don't know, HCG is AKA "Human Chorionic Gonadotropin", and it is the hormone that is produced during pregnancy by a growing baby. Progesterone is another hormone that supports gestation throughout a pregnancy. Last time we were pregnant, my HCG was good, but my progesterone was extremely low (it was 11!) That means that gestation (the developing of the fetus) was not supported very well. So I got my blood work done on Tuesday and I anxiously awaited the phone call that afternoon for the results. The lab technician, Kim, (who is AWESOME!) finally called to say that my HCG was 120, which was right on target, and my progesterone was 30!! That was WONDERFUL news! I was so excited (a feeling that I had not ever felt before after leaving that doctor's office.) So I was set to return the following Monday when I returned from vacation for more blood work. Since HCG doubles every 48-70 hours or so in a healthy pregnancy, my HCG on Monday should've been anywhere from 600 or higher. Mine was 740, which was more good news. My doctor wanted to see me the following day, so I met with her. She said everything looks good, and with my numbers the way they are, she has a good feeling about this one. Let's hope so! She scheduled me for an ultrasound on Monday, April 18 at 1:45. So that's where we stand. Hopefully tomorrow we will see a healthy baby with a heartbeat. Whatever happens....it is in God's hands! FINGERS CROSSED!!
